About:
Leading makeup artist Natasha Denona founded the international makeup empire after she realized that no product on the global market could deliver the uncompromising results she aimed for. Thus, the brand’s iconic eyeshadows were born, and they are known for their groundbreaking quality and unique visual appeal in the makeup world. The brand caters to professional makeup artists and enthusiasts worldwide, emphasizing visual user experience and a luxurious feel.
Challenges:
The previous headless site (development from scratch without a template) presented several significant challenges. Over time, maintaining the site became very complex, as even small developments could interfere with other aspects of the site’s build (the "short blanket" syndrome). This created a reliance on external developers for every minor change. This dependency slowed down work processes and made daily site management difficult. Additionally, the headless structure led to performance issues when Shopify released updates, as the site was not fully compatible. Moreover, the site did not display high-quality images and videos—an issue critical to a brand focused on visual quality.
Solutions:
Understanding Natasha Denona's unique needs, we led the transition to Shopify 2.0, with specific adaptations to the brand's needs.
The critical solutions included:
- Choosing a tailored template and meta field system: After a thorough evaluation, we identified an official Shopify template that best suited the brand’s needs. Additionally, we created an independent meta-field system for content management, eliminating the need for third-party apps. This allowed for full flexibility and custom control over the displayed information.
- Custom information displays: We made precise adjustments to all the pages, including adding custom icons beyond the template allowed, adjusting colors according to a quiz, and highlighting award-winning products to showcase their quality. We also developed dedicated pages, such as the Makeup School page, with a unique design and custom-built forms.
- Enhanced visual capabilities: To maintain Natasha Denona's uncompromising visual quality, we implemented advanced visual solutions with full support for video and high-resolution images, which enhanced the user experience and reflected the brand's luxury
- Adaptation to global markets: The websites dedicated to the Israeli and American markets and RTL (right-to-left) support allowed the brand to expand its reach and provide a tailored user experience for each audience
Results:
By properly defining the needs and building an efficient website on Shopify Plus using a template with custom developments, we achieved the following:
- Reduced dependence on developers for every minor change, allowing the team to make updates and changes quickly
- Improved site performance and user experience
- Enhanced the visual representation of products, emphasizing the brand’s unique quality
- Contributed to the brand’s global expansion and provided a consistent, personalized user experience across all websites
